Mount Graham Fun

We thought it would be fun to take the kids for a quick picnic.   It turned out to be so much fun watching them hang out together.  I think they all helped Seth find snakes, bugs, worms and lizards.  Play in the waterfall and climb the mountain.  What fun memories for them to have.  I love my family and the special times we get to have.  Loving life and our three day weekend!

Our Mini Vacation

This was our summer fun get a away with my cute parents.  What a blast we had, and I am ready to go again!  It's quite funny that I have lived in Arizona for most of my life, and have never seen the real beauty around me.  We stayed at the Ghost City Inn bed and breakfast in Jerome.  I think Jerome is such a cute little city, with the most beautiful views. We shopped for hours, walking up hill , so by the time we got to the top, we were hungry for some really yummy food!  The Haunted Hamburger was delicious!  We went to the  Blazin M Ranch in Cottonwood, and it was such a fun Wild West Adventure!  We took a little train ride, and had a super funny show while eating our yummy barbecue dinner. My favorite part of our vacation was the train ride on the Verde Canyon Railroad.  We were able to see so many awesome things and the weather was just perfect!  We ended our vacation with a stop in beautiful Sedona Arizona.  I can't wait to go back!  We had such a fun weekend with my parents, and made some wonderful memories.  I am so thankful to them for inviting us to go!

First day of school 2013

  Can't believe our two oldest boys are in high school already.  Mitchell is a Junior, Noah is a Freshman, Seth is in 6th grade and Jiselle is in 4th grade.  Loving the first day of school.  Love these cute kids! 

Keep Moving Forward

We moved to Arizona almost 6 months ago.  The day we packed up our budget truck is a day I will never forget.  It was a blizzard from the time we picked up the truck and drove away.  We were so grateful for our wonderful ward family, close friends and family who suffered through the freezing blizzard to get our house packed into the truck.  We drove that day going from blizzard to blizzard all the way to Las Vegas Nevada stayed the night, and woke up to the warm sunshine.  I couldn't believe my kids were swimming outside, and the weather was so hot.  We packed up and drove the rest of the way to Arizona and arrived on February 24th.  I had prayed so hard for the Lord to lead us to make the right decision, and moving felt so right.  We found the perfect house a week after we moved here, and Owen started his job within the first few weeks.  I started my job right after I got the house settled.  We put the kids in school, and that went great until it came time to sign Mitchell up for the rest of his sophomore year, and that was the start of our trials.   We were told from the High School that, because he had trimesters in Utah, they couldn't figure out a way to change Mitchell's transcripts and get him into semester classes.  So he would have to audit classes and get no credit for the rest of the school year.   I had him take online classes, but that seemed to be another hard trial.  Online school is definitely not for everyone. Just as any mother, I have struggled watching my kids go through such hard times.  As of Wednesday, the kids have started the new school year, and this year we were able to get all of the kids in school.  So far the kids are all doing well, so that is a huge blessing.   I have had such high hopes and dreams that life would just become easier for us, but have decided that it may never be easy.  We seem to always be in the mist of some sort of trial, but those are the things we can't get around in this life.  We must learn to face our trials head on, and learn the lessons that are placed before us, so we can keep moving forward.  One thing I have learned is that it can always be worse. In a talk given at  woman's conference in 2011 by Julie B. Beck, she said " Earthly trials and tears and opposition and difficulties are part of the Lord’s plan for us, and through those difficulties we learn and make progress. We will always have opposition. We learn in the Book of Mormon that if we don’t have opposition, then we are nothing. We are a compound in one.  We will always feel this opposition. Eve knew this and she chose mortality and experienced opposition. She led in her family and rejoiced in knowing that her trials would perfect her. Life is difficult. I have a friend who said to me recently that she’d had a plaque for years that said, “I can do the hard things.” And she says, “I’ve changed that. I now say I do hard things!” We actually do hard things, and we have learned that trials can be endured and overcome only through strong faith. Faith in the Savior, Jesus Christ, and in His atoning power, in His capacity to heal and strengthen us; faith in the Father’s plan and His mission, and that He will fulfill every promise. With strong faith we can triumph over life’s adversities, and without it we become fearful, confused, discouraged, depressed, distracted, and lost. Faith is how the Lord heals us and strengthens us."  I am grateful the Lord has given us the opportunity to move our family back to Arizona.  Even though it has not been easy, the time we are able to spend with our family has made it worth it.  I know this year will be a great year for each one of the kids and things will begin to look up for them and us as a family.  Opposition will always be here to distract us away from those things that matter most, but if we continue to be faithful before the Lord, we can do hard things, and keep moving forward.  If you have the time to read her talk, it will be well worth your time.  https://www.lds.org/callings/relief-society/messages-from-leaders/messages-from-leaders/womens-conference-2011?lang=eng

4th of July Family Fun

The Causey's had a BLAST at Grandpa and Grandma Metzger's house in Alpine.  A whole week of out door fun with fishing, camping, and fun with the cousins.  Who could ask for anything more!  Families Are Forever!

 While the other kids were in Alpine, Seth was in California having the time of his life  in the big ocean with his cousins the Alexander Family.   He is looking forward to going back!  

Hunter Safety

Seth took an online hunter safety class, so he could go with his cousin Josh to do the shooting part of the hunter safety class.  They both passed, and we couldn't be prouder.  Way to go boys!  Thank you Grandpa Metzger for all you did to get these boys down to Ft Thomas to finish.  We are so grateful for the wonderful Grandpa you are.

When one door closes~ Another door opens

The Lord opens and closes doors for us as he sees fit.  Sometimes he opens multiple doors at a time and we have to choose which door to go through.  Sometimes we don't really understand the reason why one door closes, or why one door opens, but should always trust that he knows better than us.  At this point, I feel like the cartoon character from Monsters Inc, when he sees all these doors and he's jumping from door to door, but just can't seem to find the right one.   We are doing our best to deal with the trials that have been placed before us, and have been praying and praying to find the right door.  Our most recent experience, was one that crushed our hearts. Owen had a phone interview with the Freeport McMoRan Mine in Safford.  A few weeks later he had a second phone interview.  The next step was to fly him up to Arizona for the last and final interview.  We were super excited that he made it this far, and let our hopes up to the fact that this was the job that was going to finally work out for us, and get us back on our feet.  They called him last week, and told him his interview would be on January 31st at 1:00.  They had one more person they had to check with on the time, making sure everyone on the interview board could be there.  They emailed Owen all the paperwork to fill out and maps of the mine, so he was able to find his way around.  A few hours later, he received a phone call from them, they told him basically, never mind to the whole thing, we are going to fill the position another way.   Well, the fact is, the Lord was opening up another door as that door slammed shut.  My sisters family owns a few funeral homes in Arizona, and they are in need of another employee.  We are seriously contemplating not only running through this open door, but sprinting.  But yet, we are reminded that it doesn't work that way.  Now is when faith comes in.  We are leaving it up to the Lord to help guide us in the right direction, so we can get back on course. We have learned to trust the Lord with all our heart, because no matter what we choose to do, there will always be bumps in the road along the way, and trials we have to go through.  I know that we will, with the Lords help have the right door open for us.  He will help us to know what is right for our family, as long as we have faith and let him.  Even though this is hard, he will carry us through this trial, just as he has carried us this far.  Change is hard and it's even harder to go away from your comfort zone, but with the Lords help anything is possible.

Memories of 2012

Wow, I can't believe it's 2013! Looking back on 2012, we have many great memories! Owen was able to get a job closer to home, not only are we able to save gas money, but he was able to help start a new restaurant and put many yummy foods on their new menu. We enjoy every chance we get, to go enjoy Owens wonderful food. He also enjoys his church calling as the 1st counselor in the young men's presidency. He loves working with the teenagers in our ward and teaching them every week. He is so very talented! Mitchell was able to enjoy another year of football, learned some new positions, such as d-end and full back. Played some lacrosse with the Box Elder team, baseball and Went with Justin to EFY in Logan. After a few tries on the written drivers test, he received his learners permit, and tried out some wrestling. Not so impressed with it, I'm glad he at least tried it out. Noah spent a lot of days serving others and learning many valuable lessons as a teenager. His favorite days and nights were, helping at the corn maze in Logan for fright nights. He helped his fellow deacon quorum at scout camp and will be in one of the new Mormon messages because of the example he was. He enjoys baseball, wrestling practice and lifting weights. Seth started to play the game of football, and love of his life, but broke his arm really bad and was out for the season right before it started. This kept him from wrestling, which is the other love of his life. Hoping for a better year in 2013, he has mostly enjoyed hanging out with his buddies. Jiselle had the most special year of her life, as she was baptized the newest member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She spent a lot of days reading books, doing homework with her dad, and playing with her cute friends. As for me, I have been through many changes. I got a job as a facilitator for Utah State University that I love, and am still working as a janitor for the local bird refuge. I completed my first full semester of online classes, and have 30 credits behind me now. I was just called to be the primary secretary in our ward, and love being with all the children. If I could have more babies of my own, I definitely would have a few more. They are all so adorable! We had the chance to watch the Brigham City Temple be completed. We went to the wonderful celebration and I was able to see the painting I did for the mural of the Temple. Then we went to the open house. We put on our white booties, and walked through the most beautiful place on this earth. I will never forget the feelings of peace and comfort the Temple gives. We have many wonderful memories that 2012 has brought to our family, and have felt the Lords loving arms wrapped around us many times throughout the year. We are looking forward to a new year and all the adventures to come our way. We know 2013 is going to be a hard year for us, but we have the Lords hands leading us through it. I hope that 2013 will bring you many great memories to each of your families as it will to ours. Happy New Year!!!
